Part One | Part Two | Part Three
I left Krustyland and made my way over to another ride I remembered as a child, E.T. Adventure. One of my favourite films and although the ride is a bit dated now, it still is very magical and for kids who have seen the film is very cool. I’m a big kid and I still think its cool that E.T. says your name at the end :p
After helping E.T. get home I then entered the land of Curious George, where I was far too old to be there, but being a big kid I didn’t care and got absolutely soaked with my little cousins 🙂
With not much time to dry off, the older members of my family decided to leave the younger ones in Curious George Town and ride The Mummy and Rip Ride Rockit again, which I wasn’t going to turn down, so I stopped playing for a moment and went back go on the quality coasters.
After riding the coasters again we met back up with everyone at the Terminator ride. T2 3-D: Battle Across Time is more of a show than a ride, but the mix between live action and the 3-D images on screen make it a great attraction to watch. Some scary moments in there even for the adults, and some very cool tech which back in 1996 when it launched would have been well ahead of its time.
We came out of Terminator to find out the news from staff that Disaster was working and now was open to ride after being closed earlier in the day. We wasted no time and headed over to the ride which when I was here before was Earthquake, and was another ride I absolutely loved!
The difference between Earthquake and Disaster is that with Disaster you are starring in your own motion picture, with you as the riders being the actors and extras in the movie. This could have been quite long and tedious to watch, but both my nan and uncle were two of the main actors selected for the attraction and that made it very very funny.
We went into a room where the actors shot all their parts for the film and then we entered the tube station where we boarded the train that was going to get caught in an earthquake. We would have to act as the screaming passengers stuck onboard. This was what Earthquake was when I came 10 years ago, and it again like the rest of the attractions at the park, used great technology and special effects to make water gush in, the ceilings cave in, the floor breaking and just makes it a very cool thing to watch and experience.
On the way back to the station to leave the attraction we saw the trailer for the motion picture that we shot today, and what they did with the footage they shot in the previous room and on the train was just brilliant. Very funny and just made the whole thing of watching the filming beforehand worth while. Another very clever and great attraction. The guy who acted as our leader throughout the ride as well was just superb. Very good at playing his role and doing his job.
To finish off the day and the theme park, we had one more attraction to experience, that was Shrek 4D. Being a fan of the Shrek movies I was looking forward to this and once we entered and took our seats on the strange looking individual chairs, the 4-D movie began. Que the individual chairs moving very strangely and annoyingly, which had me laughing so much at how weird it was.
It was a very average 4-D ride, and I have definitely been on better, but it was still OK and did not ruin the end of a fantastic day at Universal Studios Florida.
Universal Studios Florida proved why it has its world famous tagline and along with its neighbouring theme park Islands of Adventure, you really have at least a couple of days full of great rides and attractions for people of any age. Islands of Adventure may have the more thrilling attractions of the two parks, but Universal Studios Florida prides itself on bringing the movies to life, and there is no faulting them at all on that. A really great theme park that is a must to visit if your travelling to Orlando.
Thank you for reading 🙂
