In some exciting Television news announced yesterday, Simon Cowell seems to be moving away from Talent shows and into the realms of Game Shows as he presents his new show later this year called Red or Black?
Two colours that will sound familiar to you gamblers out there, and that is exactly what this game show is based on, gambling and luck. Contestants will guess 50/50 questions such as Red or Black, for the chance to get into the final week of the show, which is when things will get really exciting as every night a week in September, one contestant will have the choice of Red or Black for a chance to win a million!!
Ant and Dec will host the show which starts its process on 11th and 12th of June at Wembley arena, where 700 members of the general public will predict 50/50 outcomes in order to get through to the next rounds which will take place all around the UK.
However these 50/50 outcomes won’t just be a spin of a roulette wheel this early on in the competition, they will be celebrity filled stunts, with Cheryl Cole and Robbie Williams already rumoured to be part of the show.
The bets will include stuntmen jumping from planes and grabbing a red or black parachute on the way down, and whether the next baby born at a maternity ward will be a boy or a girl.
Simon also jokes that he may strap Cheryl to a red or black rocket and blast her in the air as part of the show, but also said later on in the press conference that he would be willing to do the stunt himself.
This huge new show for ITV is a big risk, with the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent creator admitted that the programme makers would have to take out insurance in case all seven people won the £1 million a night and the show required to pay out £7million.
It’s fair to say this is going to be a very exciting new direction for Television Game Shows and it’s no surprise that Simon Cowell is the mastermind behind it, but after already applying for the show myself, needing no talent or skills at all and you still have a chance of winning £1million from just luck, I can see a lot of people applying.
